I am continuing my search to locate pertinent details on my maternal grandmother’s family in Brown County, South Dakota.<\/font><\/p>\n Sybrant Fort Brott and Francelia Louise Roblee, both native New Yorkers, had four daughters, all born in New York. They moved to South Dakota after 1880. The four daughters were: <\/font><\/p>\n 1. Belle Brott, b. 1865, married William Benson (presumably in South Dakota). No details on this family from either South Dakota or California, according to Laurie Grimes, genealogist for the Bradt Family Society. <\/font><\/p>\n 2. Blanche Brott, b. 1871, possibly married, and had a daughter Ethel, unknown last name. <\/font><\/p>\n 3. Carrie Adelia Brott, b. May 13, 1875 in Quake Springs, Saratoga Co., New York, m. Jacob Henry Detling, June 21, 1905 in Groton, Brown Co., South Dakota; d. October 25, 1954, in Orland, Glenn Co., California. (This is my grandmother). <\/font><\/p>\n 4. Jessie Brott, b. 1878, m. Tom Troy, and had a son, Maurice. <\/font><\/p>\n Update: Laurie Grimes sent me info on Jessie’s family. She and Thomas Troy had four children, all born in South Dakota: Harold, b. September 1894, Vera, b. May 1897, Ellis, B. November 1899, and Maurice Edwin, b. March 10, 1906. <\/font><\/p>\n The California Death Index shows Maurie’s death in Los Angeles November 20, 1978, and Harold died May 1967 in Aberdeen, Brown Co., South Dakota in May 1967, according the SSDI. <\/font><\/p>\n I have an undated picture of the Brott family gravesite in Groton, and presumably Sybrant and Francelia are buried there, although I don’t know this for a fact. My family research to date on Sybrant’s and Francelia’s ancestral lines is nearly complete, but I am attempting to trace descendents of my grandmother’s three sisters. <\/font><\/p>\n I originally posted this query on the South Dakota Genweb, and several Rootsweb mailing lists.
