In an earlier post [http:\/\/wp.me\/pnN0F-93<\/a>], I suggested folks visit the oldest Chinese temple in the country while it was still open. At that time, the California State Park’s system had published a list of 70 sites that would be closed due to funding cutbacks.<\/p>\n

Due to extraordinary efforts to raise funds for California parks, the right to visit Weaverville’s Joss House appears to have been saved–at least for another year. The Weaverville Joss House Association <\/a>reports it has signed a three-year agreement with the California Department of Parks and Recreation to keep the site open to visitors, with the funds raised for year 1 of the three-year agreement.<\/p>\n
